Strength
Major Arcana, 8 — from The 1909 London Deck.
Upright
quiet courage, patience, composure
This is handled gently rather than forcefully. Strength is the hand on the lion's jaw — steady, unhurried, entirely unafraid. Whatever you are facing responds better to calm persistence than to a show of power.
In a yes or no reading, Strength upright answers yes.
Reversed
self-doubt, frayed patience, force where softness was needed
The composure has worn thin, or you are underestimating yourself badly. Neither is permanent. Rest is not the same as giving in.
In a yes or no reading, Strength reversed answers maybe — the situation has not settled.
What this card does in a reading here
A reading draws one card and answers the question you asked with it. Strength can come up either way up — reversals are on in this deck, because the 1909 original was drawn with them in mind — and the two readings above are the starting point, not the answer. The answer depends on what you asked.
