Britannia Tarot

What we don't read for

Nearly any question can be put to the cards here. A handful cannot, and if you have landed on this page it is because you asked one of them.

Nothing has gone wrong, and there is nothing wrong with the question. You still got your card, and it is still yours to read. What you did not get was an answer from us.

The reason

Britannia Tarot is entertainment and reflection. That is not small print — it is the whole of what this is. A tarot card is a good way to look at a decision from an angle you had not tried. It is not a way to find something out.

For most questions that distinction is harmless. If the cards tell you to go ahead with a holiday and you were going anyway, nothing has been lost. But some questions are ones where a confident single word in large type could genuinely change what somebody does next — and where the right answer is a person, not a picture.

The four

Health. Diagnoses, symptoms, treatments, medication, whether someone is ill, whether someone is pregnant. A doctor can find this out. We cannot, and a card that appears to is worse than one that says nothing.

Death and dying. Whether someone will live, how long they have, whether they will come through something. There is no version of this where an app dealing a card is the right thing to be doing.

Harm. Hurting yourself, hurting someone else, following someone, pressuring someone, getting even, or stopping treatment or care that you are on. If any of this is close to home right now, please talk to someone tonight — a doctor, a helpline, or somebody who knows you.

Legal outcomes. Court decisions, custody, immigration status, criminal charges. These turn on evidence and on law, and being told "yes" by a card the week before a hearing helps nobody.

What we do read for

Everything else, and that includes plenty that feels serious. Work, a move, a course, a falling-out, whether to message someone, whether they are thinking of you. Money too — a mortgage, a debt, a job offer, whether to buy the thing. Those are ordinary questions about an ordinary life and the cards are welcome to have an opinion.

If you asked something you think should have been read and it was not, we would like to know. Which box a question falls into is judged by a model, and a model can get that wrong — it reads "is this job killing me" more literally than you meant it. Tell us through the contact page and we will look at it.

For entertainment and reflection only. A reading is not advice, and nothing here replaces a doctor, a lawyer, or a qualified financial or legal adviser. If something is weighing on you, please talk to someone who can actually help.
